Kids Cooking is a mobile app that helps kids and parents search, research, and create healthy meals.

The Problem

Everywhere there is a basic health crisis. Diabetes and heart conditions are in the top of of the health crisis. How do we get children and parents involved in a healthy eating lifestyle?

The Goal

Kid Cooking is an app where children and parents can learn to create healthy meals. The goal is to educate all generations about healthy eating, nutrition, and having fun with healthy foods. Starting at an early age will help instill a healthy living.

My Role

Lead UX designer, UX researcher, and Visual Designer from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities

Researched problems and created flows and solutions from collected insights. UX wireframing to prototyping. Concept and creation of design.

User Research

Summary

I conducted an unmoderated usability study to see how useful this app would be. To my surprise, the group, mix of children and their parents, found the app very useful. All have busy lives and find the convenience of fun healthy and quick recipes on app very useful.

Besides the usefulness, many found the idea of teaching and learning about healthy cooking can help improve one’s overall health in life.

Takeaways

Impact

The hope is that educating kids at an early age to make fun healthy meals and snack will in the long run; will lead into a healthy lifestyle. Thus lowering the risks of common health issues such as diabetes and heart conditions.

What I learned

I have learned that users want to have fun while creating healthy snacks and meals. Having an app that is simple and enjoyable to interact does bring the joy of healthy cooking.
